Bollywood Steps first peek

Next week Im going to the launch of Bollywood Steps at the Town Hall. Therell be a couple of OBE holders Denise Lewis and Dave Moorcroft and, well, heres some blurb about it:Nutkhuts Bollywood Steps is a unique outdoor dance spectacular the centrepiece of Town Halls 175TH anniversary celebrations which is set to capture the imagination of 12,000 people in three free performances in Victoria Square in October 2009. Presented by Town Hall in association with Nutkhut, and funded by the People Dancing programme, the show will feature dazzling dance numbers, architectural lighting, fireworks, colourful costumes and water effects. A professional cast will be joined by hundreds of local schoolchildren, youth dancers and dhol drummers, and there is a moment of mass participation in the magnificent wedding scene.Ill do some reporting back, of course. This is one of the first wave of People Dancing projects theyre all due to be announced soon but details are starting to appear. It seems that Birmingham Opera Company are involved with another, with a production of Othello that will involve a dance company of 50 people. Their production of King Idomeneo was phenomenal so Im looking forward to that.
