Zazu dance present an Arabian Night

hafla flyerZazu dance company, based in Stoke-on-Trent, blend a mix of folk dance, middle-eastern and urban dance. Their performances aim to involve the audience, with eye-glances, laughter and traditional vocal calling.

Their co-director, Steffi Foulkes-Ward has got in touch to let us know they are holding an exciting event in December. The Arabian Nights Hafla on Friday 4 December will be an evening of food and dancing at Fenton Community Centre, Stoke-on-Trent.

Heres what Steffi said:

Our group consists of 11 members and we perform gypsy tribal belly dance, it is a combination of Arabic, flamenco, middle eastern, African and gypsy styles. It is flamboyant, colourful, lively, energetic and lots of fun. We have been together for about 2-3 years now, but have been working hard this year in community wide events and even had the opportunity to work with Bokahalat (African folk acoustic band) which was amazing.

There will be a souk which has everything from fantastic bling and tribal basics to Steampunk accessories and resident henna artist. Guest performances on the night will include Donna Gardener and Pedralta, Sue Sinaguglia, Majenta Al Jamira and of course Zazu, as well as other local performers.

Doors open at 7.30pm and the performance will begin at 8.30pm. Tickets are 15 for audience members and 8 for performers, and must be pre-ordered by calling Lesley Foulkes on 01782 633 759, or if you want to book a performance slot callSteffi on 01889 564 196 or email her zazu@zazutribal.com.
