Dancers are wanted for a South Asian-inspired performance taking place on Saturday 6 February 2010 at Coventrys Belgrade Theatre.

The coventry-based creative arts organisation Gener-8 are organising this celebration of South-Asian dance events called Dance Aaj Kal.

The show is inspired by the Bollywood movie blockbuster starring superstar Saif Ali Khan of the same name, which translates from Hindi into English as dance these days.

Ravi Sandhu of Gener-8 said:

Dance Aaj Kal is our second show taking place at the Belgrade theatre and we want to this relationship with the theatre to continue with a show approximately every six months, we want to bring various cultural art forms to the audiences that can access the Belgrade theatre, and were starting it off with Indian dance.

Dance Aaj Kal will be made up of two parts an afternoon of free dance performances and an evening of premium quality performances.

Gener-8 are looking for acts to come forward to perform. The afternoon will be suitable as a confidence builder for first time performers, as it will give them a feel for the theatre stage. The evening show will be suitable for the more experience performers.

Primarily they are looking for dance teams to stay in line with the theme of the show, rather than musicians, comedians, etc. They would welcome any act that incorporates other elements in collaboration with dance. They would also like to hear from teams who are able to provide at least 2 or 3 performances and have a mixed range of performers from low to high levels of experience.

Gener-8 is a not for profit organisation made up of a team of volunteers. For those interested in performing at Dance Aaj Kal please contact Ravi Sandhu on 07920 463 805 or ravi@gener-8.net
