YDE opens applications for young choreography scheme

If youd like to create new work, get one-to-one mentoring from a professional choreographer, attend a top-class residential programme and see your work performed on stage at the Royal Opera House,YDE Young Creatives 2012 may just be for you.

YDE Young Creatives, the national programme to develop young peoples skills in choreography, will be running for the fourth consecutive year in partnership with The Royal Ballet Schooland Royal Opera House. The programme will offer a dozen young choreographers the opportunity to create new work with the help of a professional mentor, participate in a 4-day residential at The Royal Ballet Schools White Lodge, and perform their newly created pieces at the Royal Opera House.

Designed for 15-19* year olds, the programme aims to give young choreographers all the skills needed to create high quality dance. YDE Young Creatives offers a unique experience with prestigious artists and facilities at two world-class organisations.

The programme includes a Skills Boosting Weekend to improve the participants understanding of choreographic techniques; a fifteen-week mentoring period during which participants will work with their professional mentor to produce and perfect their dance piece; a week-long residential where they will further refine their skills through workshops with each other and professional choreographers; and finally a prestigious performance of their new works at the Royal Opera Houses Linbury Studio Theatre.
