Dancefest seeks creative young choreographers

There are still a few weeks left to apply for Dancefests choreographic project Creates. The picture below is from one of the pieces that was created last year, by Molly Roberts.

Creates is a choreographic project for 14-21 year olds run by Dancefest, the dance development organisation for Herefordshire and Worcestershire. The six young people who are selected will be given professional help and guidance to create a new piece of work, from devising to performance.

Applications are welcomed from young choreographers working in any style. People that have previously taken part in Creates have gone on to study at the Centre for Advanced Training in Birmingham, as well as the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. If you are interested in choreography and a career in dance this is a really good way to get started and to find out what it is really like to create your own work, and to see it performed in a theatre.

Applications from young choreographers will be accepted up until the end of December and the devising period takes place from December to February 2013. The theatre performance takes place on 3 March 2013 at The Swan Theatre, Worcester.
